Battle Los Angeles: Survival of the Human Specie

I've never seen such an action movie with the same amount of drama and inspiration this 2011. Battle Los Angeles was of this kind.

I was never really into action movies. My nephew from his university goes home each weekend with new movies from his dorm mates. Since this one is new and I haven't seen it yet I gave it a try. It didn't disappoint me with its exciting action scenes and touching story.

The setting of this movie, as far as I can remember was August 2011. It was shown right before the movie started and we thought, “so, is this what is going to happen this August?”. Well while and after watching the movie I hope it's not. According to the movie, on August 2011 aliens will be colonizing the world. The story also depicted that aliens found the earth the most attractive planet to colonize because of our waters. The earth is mostly made up of water and these aliens were using the waters from the oceans to fuel themselves and their spaceships. The aliens looked weird but just as like the usual depiction of an alien in any other movies I think. The movie was action-packed and focused on one group of marines who were deployed in Los Angeles to rescue remaining civilians before the “Bomb Drop”. The battle between the soldiers and the aliens lasted for several hours in the movie and as usual, America looked like a burning furnace amidst the invasion and of course, there was the most common scene – the damaged San Francisco bridge in California.

Just like the usual action movies the marines was able to find out how to defeat the aliens, it was to destroy its control center which they were able to find on their way back to their headquarters. The few remaining marines who were deployed in Los Angeles lead by their Staff Sergeant went off and fought up to their last strengths to destroy the alien control center and they were able to go home triumphantly.

I never really liked action movies before of the action scenes which I sometimes find brutal. But as for this one, I think it's the touching story of teamwork and bravery of these marines who were deployed in Los Angeles which made me like it more than the other movies of its kind. I was also able to see clearly how marines and people who are working in the military are so brave to risk their own lives in battles even if it sometimes feel like they can never win. They are really brave people and I salute them for that.
