The Pursuit of Happyness: A Glimpse of an Inspiring Movie

When I first saw the title of this movie, I wondered why they misspelled the word “happiness”. It’s something that all people would want to have so why did they murder the spelling? Well, not until I watched the movie that I realized why – not everyone can get the happiness they long for. You can change the spelling until such time that you will be able to experience it perfectly. This was what I noticed on this movie.

I like this movie so much primarily because it felt so real. Of course it was real because it was Chris Gardner’s life story. I was really able to appreciate it a lot because it was Will Smith, one of my most favorite actors, did the role along with his real life son Jaden Smith. Everything felt so real for me talking only of the people who played the roles.

This was the only movie which made me cry so hard. Sad yet very inspiring - this is how I see the movie. It showed how a father and his son struggled to stick together amidst all difficulties one can imagine. It started off from being poor, to having a broken family, to homelessness. I was in their situation; I guess I will not be able to make it. But it’s true that we are not given with difficulties which we cannot overcome. On Chris’ case, he didn’t give up on life. He fought his way up to the top, getting through and passing all the burdens and struggles along the way. He was given what seemed like insurmountable challenges but at the same time, he was gifted with this skill in human relations. He was a natural PR man. He was able to get his way professionally, even if sometimes he had to skip paying the rents, and it was what made him an honorable man. He worked hard for everything he achieved.

Those days of homelessness and sleeping inside public toilet rooms were over now. With his determination and confidence to make it through, he was able to achieve his dreams. Now, being the CEO of Gardner Rich & Co., a stockbrokerage firm which he founded a few years after he officially became a stockbroker, is doing a lot of philanthropic works. Of course he knew how it felt to be homeless and be ripped of everything he had. He is now the one giving back to those who are like him once.

The story perfectly shows how a person can have an unfailing will to achieve his goal. Bravery in life is not measured by weapons but by the way we face challenges that come. This is a very good movie for the whole family to watch. It can bring good lessons and insights for kids and parents alike to ponder upon. It’s all about life, love, and survival – all presented in good ways by this movie. And if you people are planning to watch this movie soon, yes it’s a little bit old but I highly recommend it, better have tissue papers or other things to wipe your tears because those will surely going to fall down your cheeks.
